How the calculation works

Most categories use a marginal tier: the headline rate applies up to a threshold and a lower rate applies to the portion above it. In most categories, for example, 13.6% applies to the first $7,500.00 and 2.35% only to the portion above that.
Some categories use a whole-amount tier instead: a single rate applies to the entire sale total, and crossing the boundary can cut the fee sharply — the rate drops rather than just the excess portion.
The fee base is the total amount of the sale: item price + buyer-paid shipping + sales tax, computed per item. One per-order fee ($0.30 or $0.40) is added per order.
